How to take advantage of it, Because your empty space has a shape, you have a good opportunity to change how your room feels. Let's say you just bought a corner sofa. Visually it's made up of two rectangles but it also created a negative space in the shape of a triangle in front of it. Now two rectangles and a triangle feel very angular and a little rigid so without knowing it, you just made your space less comfortable. But place a round coffee table overlapping that empty triangle and the negative space is now much softer, hence giving a more relaxed feeling to your room! So have a look at the floor plan of your rooms and clearly draw what the negative spaces look like, you might learn something!
Despite storing very little toys in this room, I wanted it to evoke peace and play. To achieve the peace, we kept a mostly neutral color palette with a pop of warmth from the wood and the leather couch. I also tried to keep the decor as minimal as possible (which helps when we have a bunch of tiny humans over). People keep asking what we'll hang above the fireplace, but I'm not sure that we'll hang anything. (Or maybe we just haven't found the perfect thing yet.) If this room were a profession, it would be a therapist. This is the space we bring our messy lives to. I wanted the room to be able to handle it. Of course, this is where we have fun too. I wanted to implement visual fun as a reminder. So we keep Hal's rocking horse out all the time. Kev named him Polo. Hal calls him Whole-Low and drags him all around the house.
Modern Fusion, What many people don't appreciated about modern design is how easily it can be combined with other styles. This room for instance has some traditional architectural bones (courtesy of Murphy & Co Architects) yet the furniture and art skew modern. Together they form an almost transitional style which can be appealing to a wide variety of people. The Fusion style is considered as a real “bully” interior design. It combines things that are opposite at first sight. Fusion appeared in the 80s of the last century and after three decades has become incredibly popular. The other name of this style is Movement 8, because of the fact that well-known interior designer Antonio “Budji” Layug decided to unite with his colleagues and work on a new furniture design trend in Fusion style, which combine components from a lot of other styles. For example, they took a metal frame of the table, put wooden tabletop on it and decorate all with nacre. After some time Fusion completely spread over interior design. Eventually, the idea of combination things that are incompatible at first blush is very universal.
