When design meets both form and function, it feels like money well spent. I mentioned in the previous post that we had a major heating issue in the house last winter. Upstairs was extremely hot at night. (It absorbed all the sun from the day and the rise of the heat from below). But the downstairs was an ice chest throughout the day. We have one system for the house, so when we'd heat the downstairs, it'd make upstairs perfect for hot yoga. We now use the fireplace as a heater to the first floor, and it's working beautifully. We've barely had to run our heater this fall. So here's our cozy modern living room. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad we waited a year plus to add the fireplace. It took us that long to get to know the room and the house.
Add the Flicker of a Flame, To continue with the lighting theme, don't underestimate the importance of a flame when it comes to creating a cozy space. The flicker of a flame is mesmerizing and relaxing. If you have a fireplace, building a fire is a great way to generate warmth and creating a relaxing environment, but even if you don't, candles can help transform the mood of any room with their soft glow, and many offer an enticing fragrance to complement the decor throughout your interior. Also, try using candles of various sizes to create dimension, as well as finding candle holders that fit the theme of the room. Make Use of Wall Space, A blank wall is a wasted opportunity. Try to fill dead wall space rather than letting it go bare. Group art, photographs, or other items make a great display on an accent wall. Bare walls can make space feel empty, but a wall with a few pictures or prints can add character and make a room feel cozier.
Gray color tones are very stylish and popular neutral colors that bring depth and elegance into modern interior design. Yellow and blue color schemes work well with gray color and look charming in any room. Yellow and blue color combinations are a wonderful way to experiment with color design and create unique, stunning and glamorous mix of room colors. Golden colors and turquoise blue colors look especially expensive, chic and romantic. Turquoise blue color can create a stunning backdrop, furniture and decor accessories in golden colors, combined with beautiful lighting fixtures, add brightness, glamorous look and expensive feel to modern interior design, creating charming and gorgeous rooms.
